QUODLIBETS

Quodlibets was released in 2023 and features a new trio configuration of piano, drums (Will Clark), and tuba (Dan Peck), and on one song, vocals (Maria D’Amato). Each of the pieces, except for the intro, takes the form of a quodlibet which is, in its musical meaning, a medley or mashup of multiple songs (sometimes sequentially and sometimes simultaneously) that often features popular tunes in a light-hearted or humorous way. It also is a term describing a subtle or complex philosophical or theological debate. The album is available on streaming services and below is a picture of the album cover, featuring a work of art by Mark Masyga and a few of the song scores.

REeder & Dag

The premise: two musicians rendezvous in a Manhattan apartment.
The instruments: a grand piano, a snare drum with brushes, and one microphone placed haphazardly on a whim.
The selections: culled from The Great American Song Book/Tin Pan Alley canon.
The approach: improvisations sans premeditated arrangements.
The result: bound to tickle an ear or two, outright outrage, or at the very least get someone’s foot tapping.

Bryan Reeder (piano) and Dag Markhus (brushes). These impromptu recordings can be found under their respective title on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and other platforms. You can also visit our bandcamp page for purchase of the audio files here.
